The project

As repetition of the Regional Trade and Transport study, the new study aims at establishing the extent to which the various interventions related to reduction in barriers to trade have contributed to reduced transport time and costs. The study also ascertains the international, intra-regional and inter-regional trade that flows along the Northern and Central corridors in East Africa. The repeat study generates and analyses traffic flows of commodities and associated costs of movement by road transport in East Africa, which will support TMA’s monitoring efforts of its interventions along the key trade corridors.

Our role

UNEEDIT is the sole responsible of the study performing: Traffic count and a detailed Origin-Destination (OD) survey; Trade flow analysis; Analysis of the cost of moving each commodity type along the Northern and Central corridors; Analysis of the time required to move each commodity type along the Northern and Central corridors; Demographic analysis; Estimation of GHG and pollutant emissions.
