The project

Within the project ‘Lebanon Sustainable Low-Emission Transport System’, UNDP Lebanon focuses on mitigating GHG emissions by transitioning Lebanon towards sustainable mobility. This initiative targets public bus services and large car fleets by introducing electric fleets, promoting sustainable practices, and enhancing transport quality. It includes the formulation of a national e-mobility strategy, the introduction of Green Public Transport Service (GPTS) and Green Fleet Management (GFM) concepts, and the development of a roadmap to enhance the sustainability of end-of-life vehicle management practices.

The consultancy will develop guidelines and feasibility studies for GPTS and GFM certification, aiming to create a framework for sustainable transport practices and facilitate the electric bus pilot project in Lebanon. In collaboration with the Project team, the activities will engage various stakeholders such as Civil Service Organizations, NGOs, community members, transport stakeholders, and local municipalities. Additionally, it will support selected operators in the implementation of the GPTS certification process”.

Our role

UNEEDIT will oversee the overall project management and contribute to all project tasks. The specific focus will be on reviewing, benchmarking, and developing GPTS and GFM certification guidelines, data collection, conducting a feasibility study on the GPTS and GFM concept implementation, and capacity building.
