Objectifs

Analysing the potential for two- and three-wheeled electric vehicles in the capital cities of Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) and Bamako (Mali), identifying the most promising market segments.

The project

Current mobility conditions in Ouagadougou and Bamako are analysed to define mobility patterns and personal preferences. Through an extensive participatory process, including citizens, policy makers and sectoral categories, information is collected on both the mobility pattern and possible evolutions. The study develops technical analyses such as Total Cost of Ownership analysis, Life Cycle Analysis, Energy and Environmental Assessment and identifies appropriate market segments to boost e-mobility, including use cases. The study also develops investment concepts and formulates final recommendations.

The study also focuses on the analysis of the following aspects at present and in perspective: private sector involvement; fiscal implications; political economy impacts; impacts in terms of job creation/destruction.
